Tasting Notes

The combination of chilli and chocolate has long been embraced as a culinary match made in heaven. This unique recipe masterfully combines the fine flavour of dark chocolate with the spice and fruitiness of chilli.

Rather than an intense heat from the chilli that overpowers the chocolate, Lindt Excellence Chilli boasts rich aroma of the dark chocolate followed by the delicate heat of the chilli unfolding in the back of the palate.

What remains minutes after is this stunning combination on the palate.

Aroma

Earthy, fruity and balanced cocoa notes

Taste

Smooth mellow flavour that slowly builds to an intense crescendo

From the Maitre

This may sound like a modern combination but the Aztecs, Olmecs and Mayans already spiced their valuable cocoa beverages with spices including chillies centuries ago. The key for this is balance. Ideally you don’t want the heat to overtake the flavour of of the cocoa but rather create a gentle spiciness that highlights the attributes in the chocolate.
